Mithun Chakraborty says he will be always ‘obliged’ to Salim Khan and family, praises Salman Khan: ‘He is a lion-hearted man’
Mithun Chakraborty shared how he first came to know of Salman Khan as the son of legendary screenwriter Salim Khan. The actor also talked about a few things that have not changed in the Hindi film industry.

90s superstar Mithun Chakraborty recently talked about the bond he shares with actor Salman Khan. The actors have shared the screen in films like Kick, Veer, Yuvraaj, and others. Mithun shared how he first came to know of Salman as the son of legendary screenwriter Salim Khan. The 72-year-old actor also talked about the few things that have not changed in the Hindi film industry and are the same as they were during his active years.
Talking about Salman, Mithun said that ‘Dabangg’ Khan is often misunderstood by people. In his opinion, Salman is a person with whom you can fall in love at first sight. Speaking to Pinkvilla, Mithun said, “You will fall in love with him (Salman) at first sight. He was the assistant director of one of my films. He would sit with me. I really liked him.”
The actor shared how he will always be “obliged” to the Khan family. He said, “When I first came to know of Salman, he was not Salman Khan, he was Salim Khan’s son. Salim ji is the one who struggled for me. Once he looked at me and told me, ‘You have such charm on your face, why don’t you become an actor?’ He tried to get me cast in a film a lot. But destiny didn’t support me at the time. I can never raise my head in front of Salim ji.”
But with Salman Khan, Mithun Chakraborty shares a brother-like bond. He added, “Salman respects me like an elder brother and we have a lot of fun when we meet each other. We share a lot of secrets. He sometimes acts smart but he doesn’t know what will happen if I open my mouth. People just misunderstand him but he is a lion-hearted man.”
Mithun Chakraborty has spent over five decades in the film industry. He is among the most celebrated actors of the 90s. The star recently shared what he thinks hasn’t changed about the film industry in so many years.
“One thing that hasn’t changed in the industry is jealousy. If someone’s film becomes a hit, other people can’t sleep at night. I always stayed away from such things. Another thing which hasn’t changed in this industry is gossip. One who does better gossip will be accepted at parties, which is why you didn’t see me at many parties. The third thing which has changed is technology,” Mithun opined while adding that now stardom has also become “so easy”.
Mithun, who won a National Film Award for his debut film Mrigayaa, is currently busy promoting his son Namashi’s film Bad Boy. It is set to release on April 28.
