The makers of the upcoming Netflix series Guns and Gulaabs, starring Rajkummar Rao, dropped a motion poster on Sunday, giving the audience a glimpse of Rao’s character. Directed by filmmaker duo, Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK, the motion poster of Guns and Gulaabs features the actor in his character ‘Paana Tipu’.

The video begins with a voiceover with accompanying text on the screen, which reads, “Gulaabgunj ki shaan, paane se phaad de sabki, paanadhaari Tipu yeh hi hain.” Rajkummar Rao enters the frame with a heroic swag and spins his spanner, but it slips from his hands as he fumbles to hold on to it. It is a classic Raj and DK moment, which punctures heroic moments with cheeky humour.

The filmmaker duo took to Instagram and posted the video, writing, “Coming with swag, style and umm… a spanner! 🔧 Introducing Paana Tipu! @rajkummar_rao.” The actor also posted the motion poster and wrote, “Paana lekar aaraha hoon, dilon pe Raj karne. Swagat toh karoge na? 😏🔧”

Apart from Rajkummar, Guns and Gulaabs also stars Dulquer Salman, Gulshan Devaiah and Adarsh Gourav. According to the streamer, the series is set in the 90s and is billed as a story that depicts “love and innocence”, though it is set in a world of crime.

The show is produced by Raj & DK’s banner D2R Films and also features TJ Bhanu and Pooja Gor. Guns and Gulaabs marks the first collaboration of Raj and DK with Netflix, after successful Prime Video shows like The Family Man and this year’s Shahid Kapoor starrer Farzi.

Guns and Gulaabs will premiere on August 18. The trailer of the series will be released on August 2. Raj and DK are currently working on Citadel India, headlined by Varun Dhawan and Samantha Ruth Prabhu.
