Manoj Bajpayee says he ran behind Tigmanshu Dhulia with a brick, abused Hansal Mehta, fought with Anubhav Sinha: ‘Maafi mangta hu’
Manoj Bajpayee recently accepted all of the accusations of losing his temper easily and doing things which he now calls "mistakes of youth."

Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap has claimed in the past that actor Manoj Bajpayee is short-tempered and stories of his anger are popular from Bihar to Mumbai. Kashyap also once recalled how Bajpayee ran after him with a stone in his hand when he thought the filmmaker has insulted him. Bajpayee recently accepted all of the accusations of losing his temper easily and doing things which he now calls “mistakes of youth.”
During his recent appearance on Rajat Sharma’s Aap Ki Adalat, Bajpayee was reminded that Kashyap didn’t talk to him for 11 years because of some issues. On this, Bajpayee recalled, “Once I got angry with him, and ran behind him to beat him.”
Anurag Kashyap had earlier narrated on The Kapil Sharma Show why Bajpayee ran behind him. He shared, “When Hansal (Mehta) was directing Khana Khazana, we all used to gather at Gulzar’s house for food tasting, because we all were hungry and struggling… and there, Manoj thought that I said something to insult him, so he ran after me with a stone in his hand to hit me while Hansal tried to stop him.”
Rajat Sharma also reminded Bajpayee of the times when he ran behind filmmaker Tigmanshu Dhulia with a brick in his hand. Without expanding on what transpired him to do so, Bajpayee shrugged it off by saying, “These are all the mistakes of my youth.” On being pestered to reveal more, The Family Man actor said, “Daaru pii kar ladayi ho gayi thi aur kya (we got into a fight after getting drunk).”
Filmmaker Hansal Mehta also stopped talking to Bajpayee after he called him in the US and abused him. After the incident, Mehta didn’t talk to the actor for six years. Bajpayee accepted that it was his mistake as he said, “Ji Sahi Hai. Sweekar hai. Maafi maangta hoon. (Yes, I admit. I apologise).”
Not just Kashyap, Dhulia, and Mehta, Manoj Bajpayee also fought with filmmaker Anubhav Sinha since he felt that the filmmaker didn’t take a stand for him despite being his friend.
Bajpayee narrated, “Anubhav Sinha was doing a serial. I was to work as a mute, right-hand henchman of a mafia gang leader. The producer promised to pay Rs 4000 per episode. I did four episodes and the amount came to be Rs 16,000. That was in 1993 when I hardly had money for my living. When I went to the producer to take my money, he said he was fooled.”
The Satya fame added that the producer thought that his work was not worth Rs 4000 since he had no dialogues in the show and told him he could only pay Rs 1.5k. Bajpayee got angry at the producer’s argument and left the cheque in his office only. “I told him, ‘Keep this money with you, consider this as a donation’. I threw his cheque into his office and walked out. I rang up Anubhav Sinha. He said, he is the producer, what can I do? I became angry, and told him, you are my good friend but you did not take a stand for me.”
Manoj Bajpayee is now close friends with Anubhav Sinha, Anurag Kashyap, Hansal Mehta and Tigmanshu Dhulia, and has delivered some critically-acclaimed work with them.
