Manisha Koirala reveals she got letter from Kate Middleton expressing joy that actor was cancer-free: ‘It is motivating’

Earlier in March, Kate Middleton had also revealed she has cancer and was undergoing chemotherapy.

Actor Manisha Koirala, who battled stage IV ovarian cancer, recently revealed she got a letter from Princess of Wales, Kate Middleton, who lauded the former’s fight with cancer. Koirala was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in 2012. She successfully overcame it and was declared cancer-free in 2013.

In an interview with HT, Koirala revealed she received a heartfelt letter from Middleton, who “expressed her joy” at learning that the actor was cancer-free.

“It does give one strength to go on,” Manisha said about receiving the letter. “To be recognized by such an esteemed person like the Princess itself is a very motivating factor to carry on the work. It’s always great to know that somebody has appreciated one’s work,” she added.

Manisha Koirala recalled how when she was getting treated for cancer, it meant a lot when other cancer patients reached out to her and gave her “hope”. She added. “I really thank (cricketer) Yuvraj Singh and (actor) Lisa Ray and a few other people who came out of cancer and spoke about it. So, now it’s my time to do the same for others.”

Earlier in March, Kate Middleton had revealed she has cancer and was undergoing chemotherapy. Her condition was disclosed in a video message, two months after she was hospitalized in January for unspecified abdominal surgery. In the message, Middleton had asked for “time, space and privacy,” while she is treated for an unspecified type of cancer, which was discovered after her surgery, AP had reported.

Manisha Koirala, meanwhile, was last seen in Sanjay Leela Bhansali directed Netflix series Heeramandi, for which the actor earned acclaim.
