Laapataa Ladies song Sajni: Arjit Singh’s vocals and Ram Sampath’s music win internet’s heart

The makers of Laapataa Ladies released “Sajni”, the second song from the film, on Monday. The love ballad, sung by Arijit Singh and composed by Ram Sampath, appears to come at crucial juncture in the film, portraying Jamtara fame Sparsh Srivastav’s character’s longing for his missing bride. The lyrics have been penned by Prashant Pandey. The soothing track instantly strikes a chord with listeners as Arijit beautifully marries emotions and music.

As soon as the love song, depicting pain and longing, was released online, netizens were quick to heap praises on “Sajni”. “Arijit Singh finally apna Old vocals wapas le aaya (Arijit has finally gone back to his old vocals),” commented a user on YouTube. “This one is a special one… Ram Sampath Ji’s creation and Arijit Singh’s magic. And I’m completely in love with this onscreen pair…Phool and her husband…such cuties,” wrote another user.

The first song from the film, “Doubtwa”, was released on February 5.

Directed by Kiran Rao, Laapataa Ladies features Nitanshi Goel, Pratibha Ranta, Shrivastava, Ravi Kishan and Chhaya Kadam. The recently released trailer of the film shows  a man unveiling the wrong bride in front of his family and village folk. Meanwhile, another man files an FIR at a police station for his missing wife, encountering a suspicious and sarcastic police officer, portrayed by Ravi.

The film, screened at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), is produced by Aamir Khan Productions and Kiran’s Kindling Productions. The script is based on an award-winning story by Biplab Goswami. Laapataa Ladies will be released in theatres on March 1.
