Kumar Sanu believes Rishi Kapoor enacted his songs the best: ‘His throat’s nerve would get swollen…’
Kumar Sanu recently shared how Rishi Kapoor enacted his songs so well on the screen that it felt like he was only singing those songs.

Singer Kumar Sanu has sung some of the most melodious songs for Rishi Kapoor including “Jab Se Tumko Dekha Hai Sanam”, “Sochenge Tumhe Pyar”, “Teri Umeed Tera Intezaar”, “Jab Se Tumko Dekha Hai Sanam”, and “Gawah Hai Chand Taare Gawah Hai” among others. The singer believes that it was Kapoor who did the maximum justice to his voice.
In a recent interview, Sanu shared how Kapoor enacted his songs so well on the screen that it felt like he was only singing those songs. He told Radio Nasha, “Of all the songs that I have sung, the one artiste who justified them the most was Rishi Kapoor. After that, it was Shah Rukh Khan and others.”
Kumar Sanu noted that when Rishi Kapoor filmed the songs he sang, the nerve of his throat would bulge as if he was only singing the song. He added, “When Rishi Kapoor used to shoot for my songs, it looked like he is only singing those songs. His throat’s nerve would get swollen. The expressions that a singer has on his face while singing, Rishi Kapoor had those expressions. This is why it always felt that he is singing the songs.”
The singer remembered Kapoor as a ‘bindaas’ (carefree) and entertaining person. The actor passed away on April 30, 2020, after a long battle with cancer. He was 67.
Kumar Sanu, in his 35 years in the music industry, has sung more than 21,000 songs in 26 languages. The singer recently crooned a song for Rajkummar Rao in his upcoming Netflix series, Guns and Gulaabs.
