Kriti Sanon says ‘people are quick to blame the girl’ when a film fails: ‘I do come across really hurtful comments’
In 2024, Kriti Sanon has appeared in two hit films - Crew and Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya. She wondered how much of the praise that the films have received is genuine.

Actor Kriti Sanon, who was recently seen in the films Crew and Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya, said that it would be nicer if the people in the film industry supported each other genuinely rather than just complimenting each other superficially. Kriti said that she has her doubts if people are actually happy when someone does well, but added that things are slowly changing now.
In a chat with Zoom TV, Kriti said, “We will be somewhere else if we start uniting and start supporting each other. Genuinely supporting and genuinely feeling good… Not doing it for the heck of it, just being there, clapping and applauding for each other. It’s just going to be much nicer, happier and a much more successful place.” She added, “I don’t see that unity so much here. I don’t know how many people are genuinely happy when a film does well but I think that’s changing a little bit. At least, I am hoping.”
Kriti said that when one watches something that really moves them, it actually makes a difference when they compliment the actors and the creators for their work. “As actors, we thrive on validation,” she said.
When asked about the sexist narrative where a film’s failure is often blamed on women, Kriti said that the success or failure of a film is not dependent on one person. “I have come across really hurtful comments. A film, succeeding or not, is not one just person. It’s a whole team,” she said, and added, “I choose to ignore all of this and let my work speak because nothing else really matters.”
Kriti said that sexist narratives like this also exist in the field of sports. “People quickly blame it on the girl sometimes, in many cases, not just films, even matches sometimes,” she said and added, “Trolls are trolls, you can’t pay so much attention to them.”
Kriti will next be seen in Do Patti, with Kajol.
