Kartik Aaryan, who is still celebrating the success of Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, first started his career in the movies in 2011 with Pyaar Ka Punchnama. Kartik recently recalled the joy he felt when he landed Luv Ranjan’s film and said that soon after he received his contract, he called his mother, who up until then had no idea that Kartik was auditioning for films. While Kartik was crying out of joy, his mother Mala Tiwari freaked out when she heard about Kartik venturing into films. In fact, she even requested Luv to fire Kartik from his film so Kartik could finish his studies with complete concentration.

In a recent conversation with Galatta India, Kartik’s mother shared, “He called me after his selection and was crying with happiness. He said, ‘Mummy, I lied to you, I came to Mumbai to get into movies.’ I lost my temper. I was like, ‘I sent you to finish your degree and get settled in life, why would you get into movies? There is so much uncertainty. I started to cry. He was like, ‘Why are you crying?’, I was like, ‘I am crying as to what did that director see in you?'”

An anxious Mala Tiwari visited the director’s office after two days. She recalled, “I just asked him (Luv Ranjan) one question, ‘Son, out of all the people in the world, why would you choose my son? Let us keep this between us, and please remove my son from the movie.’ But, he refused.” Kartik’s mother let him pursue his dreams on one condition that he would finish his engineering degree and he kept his promise.

During the same conversation, Mala Tiwari also joked that the man now known as ‘Rooh baba’, was very ‘darpok’ in real life. She recalled an incident from his early days in Mumbai when he newly shifted into a 1-BHK house and started to live alone. “He was so scared to live there alone that he called me and requested me to visit him in Mumbai and help him settle down.” She added, “He was so scared of things that he refused to sleep in the bedroom and would request to sleep in the living room with me.” Kartik would make his mother sleep near the door, and he slept on the other side. “He said, ‘If anybody comes after my life, first they will have to get past you.'”

Recalling another incident, Mala said, “It was summers, and there was an old AC in that house. Once, when he switched it on, several baby bats came out of it and hovered around him and fell on the ground, Kartik was so scared that he ran out of the house and started to shout and yell, ‘Mom, please make them leave, I am horrified.'” She joked, “This is how your Rooh Baba was in real life.”

Kartik Aaryan’s Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 released on November 1 against Rohit Shetty’s multi-starrer film Singham Again. The horror-comedy performed fairly well at the box office, leaving behind the Ajay Devgn-starrer film.
