Director Dibakar Banerjee, who is looking forward to the release of LSD 2, recently opened up about his friendship with filmmaker Karan Johar and said that Karan makes sure that he takes care of those who are around him. Dibakar and Karan have worked together on the different segments of anthologies Bombay Talkies, Ghost Stories and Lust Stories. Dibakar said that even though they don’t meet very often, him and Karan are friendly when they meet and added that Karan was the one who initiated the friendship.

In a chat with Siddharth Kannan for his YouTube channel, Dibakar said that he really enjoyed the experience of making the anthologies as he was already friends with Zoya Akhtar and Anurag Kashyap. “Karan actually took the first steps to becoming a friend,” he said. Dibakar said that he was keen on taking this opportunity of working with these directors as this way, his film would get a wider audience. “Because of all of them, the film gets promoted in a good way so my film gets a chance,” he said and added, “The moment I was offered Bombay Talkies, I said, ‘Yes, I am doing it.’ Because working with them will help my brand identity. I really loved that experience.”

Dibakar Banerjee then spoke about his friendship with Karan Johar and said that the Kuch Kuch Hota Hai director once styled his hair in Paris, and even designed an outfit for him. “Karan has styled my hair sitting in Paris. Karan has a motherly side. He takes care of you. He kind of adopted me because I was like an ugly duckling. Because in fashion I am… so he says, ‘Dibakar, you have to do this.’ He designed an outfit that I wore for some premiere,” he said.

Despite his cordial relationship with Karan Johar, Dibakar is yet to work with him under his banner Dharma Productions.
