The latest season of Fabulous Lives of Bollywood Wives was full of revelations, including personal ones. In one of the episodes, Neelam Kothari talked about her first marriage for the first time ever. Not just the audience, the scene even left the show’s producer, Karan Johar, in tears. Recently, in a reunion interview for Netflix, Johar opened up about having a ‘constant fear’ of facing tough questions from his kids.

Mentioning the only time in all the three seasons of Fabulous Lives of Bollywood Wives he got teary eyed, K Jo talked about the time Neelam met Ekta Kapoor and opened up about her divorce with businessman Rishi Sethia for the first time in the latest season of the show. The filmmaker said, “I was pretty much a large part of that phase of your (Neelam) life. That really moved me because I remember those days so clearly. I really teared up, I was actually connecting to it on an emotional level. You spoke about your daughter and that’s also something that struck a chord with me. My constant fear is that I also have to deal with those questions from my own children, about my circumstances and that I have a modern family situation.”

“They will find out things and I will have to be answerable. Being a single parent, I know I am answerable to my children about so many aspects. Thank you for sharing that Neelam, it was really beautiful,” he added.

In the episode, Neelam Kothari had shared, “I came from work, and Ahana was with her friends. Normally, they are always jumping around, screaming, and shouting. But, this time, there was pin-drop silence. Ahana came to me and said, ‘Mumma, you never told me you were divorced.’ I just died. I was stumped. I had no words. I told Ahana, ‘First of all, how do you know?’ She said, ‘You’re a celebrity, so my friends and I were googling you. The first thing that came up was that you were divorced. You were married.”

Talking about her first marriage, she broke down in tears and shared how she was not fine about changing things about her identity. “I was told to wear Indian clothes, give up non-veg, and alcohol. I was fine with everything. I was also asked to change my name, and I did that, too. A lot of people do that. But, changing my identity? That is something I was not okay with. I reached a point where I questioned myself, ‘How am I allowing this?’ There were several times when I used to be in a supermarket or out on lunch, and someone would come up to me and ask, ‘Are you Neelam the actress?’ And I had to say, ‘No, I am not Neelam,'” she added.

For the unversed, Neelam tied the knot with her second husband, actor Samir Soni, in 2011. In 2013, they adopted a daughter named Ahana. On the other hand, Karan Johar has twin children, Yash and Roohi, who were born via surrogacy in February 2017.
