The second episode of The Great Indian Kapil Show saw the stars of Devara: Part 1 – Jr NTR, Saif Ali Khan, and Janhvi Kapoor – in attendance before a live audience. The episode aired on Saturday, and on Tuesday, Kapil Sharma shared a collection of outtakes. The video shows several of Kapil’s jokes that didn’t make the cut. He poked fun at Saif’s privileged upbringing, but conceded that he’d been one-upped when Saif got him back with a joke of his own. Kapil also recalled his warm interactions with Janhvi’s late mother, Sridevi, and took some routine jabs at Archana Puran Singh.

Referring to Saif’s royal heritage – he’s the son of Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi, the nawab of Pataudi in Haryana – Kapil asked if he eats regular food. “You are shuru se ameer, you are from a family of nawabs, do you eat paranthas like regular people or do you make parantha smoothies?” Kapil asked. Saif replied, “Firstly, I don’t eat paranthas. I only eat gluten free food. I got an allergy test done, and discovered that I can’t even have milk.”

Janhvi pointed out that she doesn’t believe in these restrictions, as people have survived on all kinds of food for ages. “You don’t need to have milk as an adult, it’s for kids,” he said, as Janhvi sheepishly revealed that she still has milk. In the video, Kapil also looked back on his personal interactions with her mother, Sridevi, who died in 2018. Kapil said, “I met at the gym once, and Janhvi was there too. She was very little. Sridevi ji introduced me to Yash Chopra’s wife, Pamela aunty. I met her again, she was sitting quietly in the gym, and you wouldn’t be able to tell that she’s the same Sridevi who lights the screen on fire.” Allowing a moment to pass after Kapil’s warm story, Saif said, “But what were you doing at the gym?” An impressed Kapil said, “Wow, sir.”

Kapil also made a stereotype-driven joke at the expense of Jr NTR, when he asked the actor if he eats sambar rice with his hands even when he’s abroad. Jr NTR replied, “I don’t eat rice at all. But I believe in experiencing foreign cultures through food, and I’m very experimental when I’m abroad.” The Great Indian Kapil Show airs on Netflix on Saturdays. Devara debuted in theatres on Friday, and has made almost Rs 325 crore worldwide so far.

In a recent interview with India Today, Saif spoke about his ancestral property, the Pataudi Palace, and said that his father told him not to expect any inheritance. “My father told me, ‘Don’t expect any kind of financial inheritance, the world has changed. What I’ll give you is a good education. I’ll pay for that, but besides that, you’re on your own’,” he said.
