Kajol advises young actresses to never opt for plastic surgery under pressure: ‘It should be a personal choice’

The show’s helmer Suparn Varma, who was sitting next to Kajol, added, “Or surgery!” Kajol said, “No! That’s the whole point!” Then the filmmaker added that whether one does make-up or surgery should be a choice and not done under pressure, to which the actor agreed.

“Exactly, that’s what I mean. That it should be a personal choice, you shouldn’t do it because 25 people have told you to do it,” Kajol added. The actor had previously told Humans of Bombay about her journey of navigating conventional stereotypes about how actors should look.

“I thought that I was way more intelligent than all these people who were commenting on me. I know I am cool. People who want to look past that will see me and people who don’t, it’s fine,” she had said, acknowledging that she was often judged for being dark and fat, and wearing spectacles.

“There were a lot of things that a lot of people told me. I am still doing well, despite all that. So maybe I was doing something right in the whole baggage of things that they put on me. I couldn’t really take them that seriously”.

The Trial- Pyaar, Kaanoon, Dhokha marks the digital debut of Kajol. The Suparn Varma-helmed web show is the Indian adaptation of The Good Wife, which starred Julianna Margulies in the lead role.

The Trial- Pyaar, Kaanoon, Dhokha will stream on Disney Plus Hotstar from July 14. The show also stars Jisshu Sengupta, Sheeba Chaddha, Kubbra Sait and Alyy Khan among others. Kajol is currently also seen in Netflix’s Lust Stories 2.
