Kabir Khan says Katrina Kaif is much more than friend, reveals he shares deep bond with Vicky Kaushal too: ‘She’s like family’
In an interview with Humans of Bombay, Kabir Khan opened up about his bond with Katrina Kaif, and how he goes a long way with her husband Vicky Kaushal's family too.

Kabir Khan and Mini Mathur were one of the first guests to arrive for Katrina Kaif-Vicky Kaushal’s wedding in 2021. Since then it’s been known that the actor couple share a great bond with the filmmaker’s family. Now, in an interview, Khan opened up about his bond with Katrina, saying she’s more like family to him. He also shared how he goes back with Vicky’s family too.
In an interview with Humans of Bombay, Kabir Khan said, “Katrina is much more than a friend now. She’s like family. We go back all the way to New York, but more than just the three films that we’ve done together, it’s just the times we’ve spent together. Now she’s married to Vicky, who again I consider part of my family. I’ve done six films with Vicky’s father, Sham ji. Vicky’s brother Sunny was in my first web series Forgotten Army. So yes, I would say Katrina’s family.”
For the unversed, Kabir has directed Katrina in films such as New York (2009), Ek Tha Tiger (2012) and Phantom (2015).
In the same interview, Kabir also spoke about his inter-religious marriage with Mini Mathur and how it was accepted wholeheartedly by both their families. “Her father said the difference between Khan and Khanna is ‘na’, which means non applicable,” he shared.
Kabir said that when they initially thought about getting married, Mini expected some opposition from her extended family but they faced none. “Mini comes from a very traditional Mathur family. Religion was never really an issue and initially, Mini thought that there will be an issue in trying to convince her extended family but it’s just so beautiful how they all accepted me,” he said. Speaking about his own family, Kabir said that since his family was already inter-faith, there wasn’t much resistance.
Kabir Khan’s last directorial was 83 with Ranveer Singh. He recently announced his next with Kartik Aaryan.
