Juhi Chawla’s ‘brilliant’ daughter Jahnavi graduates from Columbia University with laurels, Shah Rukh Khan cheers: ‘Love u Jaanz’

Shah Rukh two oldest children, daughter Suhana and son Aryan, also recently graduated from college. While Aryan attended University of Southern California, Suhana went to New York University. Bollywood actor Sara Ali Khan is also a Columbia graduate. Juhi couldn’t contain the pride that she felt for Jahnavi, as she told News18, “One shouldn’t be praising one’s own kid, but she is a brilliant kid and boasts of a praiseworthy academic record. She did great in her International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) exams, too, and topped History in India. In IB, she topped her school. At Columbia University, she is on the Dean’s List.”

Unlike many star kids, who want to pursue a career in the film industry, Jahnavi is ‘different’, Juhi said. She added, “She’s so much into cricket! She lights up when she talks about cricket – players and the nitty-gritty of the sport. Sometimes I wonder all this knowledge comes from! I find it very surprising. This is what she has chosen for herself, so I can’t really take the credit for it. It all comes rather organically to her… I see many star kids trying to make it big in Bollywood and I feel it’s a lot of pressure on them. You don’t know if your next assignment, should you get it, will be successful. And then there is the scrutiny on social media. It’s all a lot to deal with.”

Jahnavi has kept a low profile, but she was spotted alongside Aryan at the IPL auction last year. “I was so glad the children are taking a keen interest in the team. They are not being pushed to do this, they are doing it because they truly wish to. They both keenly follow the sport. Jahnavi wakes up at odd hours of the night, to watch cricket matches in different parts of the world,” Juhi told indianexpress.com about the next generation participating in the family business. She remains close to Shah Rukh’s family, and put up a Rs 1 lakh bond for Aryan when he was arrested last year in a drugs-related case.

Shah Rukh and Juhi have worked together in films such as Darr, Duplicate and Yes Boss. Shah Rukh made his grand comeback to starring roles earlier this year, with the blockbuster Pathaan. Juhi, on the other hand, was last seen in the film Sharmaji Namkeen.
