Janhvi Kapoor answers why she said ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’ at a Janmashtami event, becoming ‘meme material’: ‘Roz bolungi…’

Actress Janhvi Kapoor recently faced trolling after she joined the crowd in saying ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’ during a Janmashtami event. Janhvi had attended the event to promote her upcoming film Param Sundari, in which she co-stars with Sidharth Malhotra. While Janhvi became a ‘meme material’ over chanting the slogan praising the country, the actress had now reacted to the backlash on social media.

Taking to her Instagram stories, Janhvi Kapoor shared the actual video and explained why she joined the crowd in saying ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’. In the video, Janhvi was just seen joining the host, who loudly cheered ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’ as the Dahi Handi procession commenced. Janhvi wrote, “Just for context, full video lol. Unke bolne ke baad nahi bolti toh problem, aur bolo toh bhi video ko kaat ke meme material (laughing face emoji). (If I hadn’t said the slogan after him, it would have been a problem, and now that I said it, then cut the video and make it meme material.)”

She went on to write further, “Waise sirf Janmashtami ke din nahi roz bolungi Bharat Mata ki Jaiiiiii! (folded hands, Indian flag emojis). (By the way, not just on Janmashtami, I will say it every day, Bharat Mata ki Jai.)” Janhvi Kapoor even gave a speech in Marathi at the event, where she asked people to watch her film on August 29th.

Janhvi Kapoor will be seen alongside Sidharth Malhotra in Param Sundari. The rom-com produced by Maddock Films and directed by Tushar Jalota revolves around a boy from Delhi and a girl from Kerala. Ever since the film’s trailer was released, many have been comparing Param Sundari to SRK-Deepika Padukone’s Chennai Express. Other than Janhvi and Sidharth, Param Sundari also stars Rajeev Khandelwal and Aakash Dahiya in important roles. The film will release in theaters on 29th August.
