Vishal Jethwa is part of the cast of the film Homebound, that has been selected to be screened at Cannes, and has been backed by Karan Johar and Martin Scorsese.

The Indian team of actors, directors and producers at this year’s Cannes International Film Festival have certainly made a mark with their presence and style. Among this proud contingent is the team behind the film Homebound, including director Neeraj Ghaywan, producer Karan Johar and actors Ishaan Khatter, Janhvi Kapoor and Vishal Jethwa.
Janhvi Kapoor’s Cannes look inspired by mom Sridevi?
Janhvi Kapoor’s Cannes look had many on the internet comparing her with mother Sridevi. Sharing a photo of Sridevi where she is also wearing a similar structured ghoonghat, many commented on Reddit how the two looks were quite similar. For her Cannes debut, Janhvi wore a creation by designer Tarun Tahiliani and was styled by Rhea Kapoor. However, Tarun or Rhea have not yet commented if Sridevi was indeed the inspiration.

Others from the team opened a window to the celebration at Cannes in different ways; Janhvi and Ishaan posted several pictures of their looks from the red carpet, while the latter was also seen roaming the streets of the city. Ghaywan, who has been to Cannes before as well, posed with the iconic director Spike Lee, who is currently gearing up for the release of his film with Denzel Washington, Highest 2 Lowest.

About Homebound
Homebound has been selected as part of the ‘Un Certain Regard’ category, which literally translates to ‘A Certain Glance’, and the category highlights films with unique storytelling and fresh voices in cinema. It features 20 films each year.
Interestingly, Ghaywan’s Masaan (2015) was selected in the same category. Homebound has been jointly produced by Karan Johar, Adar Poonawalla and Somen Mishra, and was later boarded by Martin Scorsese and Marijke Dsouza. The film follows the story of two friends who pursue respect and dignity in the eyes of social disapproval. Cannes’website described it as, “Two childhood friends from a small North Indian village chase a police job that promises them the dignity they’ve long been denied. But as they inch closer to their dream, mounting desperation threatens the bond that holds them together.”
