IFFM 2024: Vikrant Massey, Kartik Aaryan, Parvathy bag top honours; 12th Fail, Laapataa Ladies win big
The 15th edition of Indian Film Festival of Melbourne honoured the likes of AR Rahman, Vikrant Massey, Kabir Khan, Kartik Aaryan among others.

The 15th Indian Film Festival of Melbourne (IFFM) celebrated the best of Indian cinema by organising a spectacular award ceremony on Friday. The event honoured some of the most talented individuals as well as films with RRR star Ram Charan and Oscar-winning composer AR Rahman bagging the top two honours for their contribution to Indian cinema. Kartik Aaryan took home the Best Actor award for his performance in Chandu Champion. Meanwhile, filmmakers Kabir Khan and Nithilan Swaminathan were jointly awarded Best Director for their work on Chandu Champion and Vijay Sethupathi-starrer Maharaja, respectively.
In addition to these major awards, Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s 12th Fail was acknowledged for its inspiring narrative, and Kiran Rao’s Laapataa Ladies was honoured for its innovative approach and storytelling.

Best Director (Critics Choice) – Dominic Sangma for Rimdogittanga (Rapture)
Best Performance of the Year (Critics) – Vikrant Massey for 12th Fail
Jury Awards
Best Actress – Parvathy Thiruvothu for Ullozhukku (Undercurrent)
Best Actor – Kartik Aaryan for Chandu Champion
Best Director – Kabir Khan for Chandu Champion and Nithilan Swaminathan for Maharaja
Best Film – 12th Fail
The festival will conclude on August 25.
