Hrithik Roshan celebrates grandfather Roshan Laal Naagrath’s ‘immortal legacy’, shares music composer’s iconic song: ‘He never got to…’

Hrithik Roshan also shared that his "daduji" Roshan Laal Naagrath didn't get to celebrate the success of his song 'Oh Re Taal Mile Nadi Ke Jal Mein' from Anokhi Raat (1968).

Actor Hrithik Roshan took to social media to celebrate his ‘daduji’ (grandfather) Roshan Laal Naagrath’s legacy on his 106th birth anniversary. The actor shared a picture of Roshan and penned a heartfelt note along with it. Naagrath is Hrithik‘s father, actor and filmmaker Rakesh Roshan and veteran film music composer Rajesh Roshan’s father.

Hrithik wrote, “Today marks the 106th birth anniversary of my Daduji – Roshan, whose name I inherit. Although I never had the honor of meeting him, learning from him or physically experiencing his love, I am blessed with a priceless treasure: his work… his music. Legends have a way of transcending time through their art. His songs are the foundation of the Roshan family’s journey and I am immensely proud to be a part of his extraordinary lineage.”

Hrithik then shared how he feels that his grandfather died too young to even celebrate his success. “Celebrating my Daduji’s immortal legacy through one of my favourite songs by him ♥️ I celebrate this song even more because my Daduji never got to celebrate its success… he passed away soon after he recorded this brilliant track. He was 40 years old,” he wrote.

Hrithik attached one of his favourite songs, ‘Oh Re Taal Mile Nadi Ke Jal Mein’ from Anokhi Raat (1968) to the post. The song was composed by Roshan Laal Naagrath and sung by the legendary Mukesh. The film starred Sanjeev Kumar, Zahida and Mukri.

Hrithik’s fans and social media followers and his friends from the industry took to his post’s comments section to remember the late music composer. Anil Kapoor posted bunch of red heart icons to show his love, filmmaker Ananth Mahadevan wrote, “Immortal compositions.”. One person wrote, “Happy birth anniversary to the legendary Roshan sir ❤️ ” the music never dies , and such music is immortal,” yet another person wrote, “hrithik sir,you really are an inspiration in taking your family’s legacy forward.Thank you.”

Roshan Laal Naagrath was popularly known as Roshan, the name Rakesh and Hrihik take after. He was born on July 14, 1917 in Gujranwala and came to Mumbai in 1948 to pursue a career as a music composer in the Hindi film industry. After a short but successful career in music, Roshan passed away on November 16, 1967.
