Before making her grand debut opposite Shah Rukh Khan in Farah Khan’s Om Shanti Om, Deepika Padukone was featured in singer and actor Himesh Reshammiya’s music video for the song “Naam Hai Tera”. In a recent interaction, Himesh recalled working with Deepika and called her a “star from day one.” He also expressed that while he has launched several actresses throughout his career, none have been able to achieve the same level of success as Deepika.

Speaking to Pinkvilla, Himesh said, “We launched many other girls, but they didn’t become Deepika Padukone. So, the whole credit goes to her. She starred in the music video of ‘Naam Hai Tera’, and she was a star from day one. She was fantastic. Her dedication, hard work, and screen presence was good even back then.”

Years after appearing in the music video, Deepika reunited with Himesh on Indian Idol 11, where he was a judge and she appeared as a guest. During the show, Deepika expressed her gratitude to Himesh for giving her the opportunity and admitted that she knew nothing about shooting at the time.

“I knew nothing about shooting when I was shortlisted for the music video. I never went to a film set or knew how music videos are shot. Whatever I am doing today, I have learned it while filming the music video. Thank you, sir, for giving me this opportunity. You had faith in me when nobody else did,” Deepika said.

On the professional front, Himesh was last seen in Badass Ravikumar, while Deepika was last seen in Rohit Shetty’s Singham Again.
