Genelia Deshmukh wants her sons to be like their father Riteish Deshmukh: ‘He is secure, a woman’s success doesn’t bother him’

Actors Riteish Deshmukh and Genelia Deshmukh have been together for 21 years. After marriage, Genelia, who was a popular name in the South film industry, quit acting and became a homemaker. She continued to be at home even after her two sons, Riaan and Rahyl, grew up. This is when husband Riteish nudged her and asked her to do what she loves — acting.

In a recent interaction with Zoom, Genelia shared that she was getting “comfortable” with being at home and not working. Though initially, it was about her children being too young, later it turned to “laziness and comfort of being at home.” This is when Riteish told her, “What are you doing?” He reminded me that I love acting.” The Jaane Tu Jaane Na actor feels, “I couldn’t do so many things without Riteish.”

Genelia also reacted to Riteish’s comment about being acknowledged as her husband when he went to the southern states of the country. Genelia has starred in movies across Telugu, Hindi, Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam languages.

The Ved star complimented her husband for being “amazing” and a “secure man”. She opined, “The value of a man is seen when he is extremely secure, when a woman’s success doesn’t bother him. I am really lucky to have Riteish.” Genelia also revealed that when she works, Riteish becomes the “homemaker” and never creates a huff about it.

Genelia wants her two sons to be like their father. “He is so confident. He does a lot of things. He is not just an actor. He is an architect, a producer, and an entrepreneur; he has got some 10 jobs, still, he is a great dad. He is an involved father. He is not the one to come after (the kids have slept). Having a person like him in life, life gets in a zone which is very balanced,” the actor added.

Genelia and Riteish dated each other for 9 long years before tying the knot on February 3, 2012. After starring together in films like Masti and Tujhe Meri Kasam, they recently once again brought their off-screen chemistry to the screen in Riteish’s directorial debut film, Ved. The film became a huge blockbuster upon its release.
