Gaurav Taneja was ‘shocked’ when wife Ritu Rathee decided to quit social media at peak of her career: ‘She was number one mom influencer’
Gaurav Taneja recently recalled the time when his wife, who has about 2 million followers on Instagram, decided to quit being an influencer and focus on her children.

YouTuber Gaurav Taneja, famously known as Flying Beast on the internet, is married to pilot Ritu Rathee. Just last year, the couple made headlines after footage of Ritu speaking about the breakdown of their relationship made its way online. Both Gaurav and Ritu have massive followings on social media, but recently, Ritu decided to step away from her career as an influencer. At a recent event, Gaurav said that he was ‘shocked’ when Ritu told him about her decision.
In an interaction with entrepreneur Azhar Iqubal at IIT Delhi, Gaurav explained the real meaning of success, and said that not everybody has to work for 90 hours a week to be successful. Citing the example of his wife, Gaurav shared, “My wife was also an influencer. She had about 2 million followers on her Instagram. Last year, she came to me and said, ‘I don’t want this’. She was the number one mom influencer in the country. Now, if you will go check her profile, she puts about one post in six months.”
“At first, I was shocked by her decision. I told her, ‘You are wasting this profile’. She replied to me, ‘Why do you think having a big bank balance is success? That is your thinking. I want to spend time with my kids, they are growing up, I want to be involved in their lives. And moreover, I am also a pilot, and I content with that'”, said Gaurav.
He said this episode with his wife taught him that every individual has a different definition of success. “We can’t force same success formula on everybody. Whoever wants to live however, should be allowed to live,” he said.
Last year, a video of Ritu Rathee crying during a gathering hosted by spiritual leader Premanand Govind Sharan made its way online. She spoke about deceit and raising two daughters on her own. This fueled rumours that her marriage was at the verge of breaking. However, both Ritu and Gaurav took to their respective social media handles to address the rumours and slammed people who took the video “out of context”.
In one of his YouTube videos, Gaurav Taneja said, “Those who follow Premanand Ji Maharaj already know the truth.” Meanwhile, Ritu too shared a video in the support of her husband and asked the public to mind its own business. Gaurav Taneja and Ritu Rathi tied the knot in 2016. The couple have two daughters, Kiara and Pihu.
