As Karan Johar puts it, Gadar 2 is ‘blowing away everyone’s minds’. The Anil Sharma directorial is continuing to have a strong run at the box office. On its second Monday, the film earned in double digits. As per film trade analyst Taran Adarsh, it added another Rs 13.50 crore to its total collection, which now stands at Rs 388.60 crore. The overall Hindi occupancy of the film was noted at 28.50%.

Gadar 2, which comes 22 years after the first film in the franchise, Gadar: Ek Prem Katha, revolves around a father Tara Singh (Sunny Deol), who would go to any length to bring back his son Jeete (Utkarsh Sharma) from Pakistan where he has been held captive by army general Hamid Iqbal (Manish Wadhwa). The film’s patriotic tone has appealed to the audience and has translated into big box office numbers.

Gadar 2 has left behind this year’s biggest blockbuster Pathaan on its second Monday. The Shah Rukh Khan-starrer had earned Rs 8.55 crore on its second Monday. It ended its run with a collection of Rs 543.05 crore. Now, with Gadar 2 nearing the Rs 400 crore mark, it remains to be seen if it will take Pathaan’s place and become the highest Bollywood grosser of the year.

Film trade analyst Taran Adarsh shared another achievement of the Sunny Deol-Ameesha Patel film on Monday. He revealed that Gadar 2 registered a better second weekend than the top five highest-grossing Hindi films. What did Karan Johar say about Gadar 2 success

At the Express Adda event in Mumbai on Monday, Karan Johar praised Gadar 2 as he said, “Gadar has blown everyone’s brains away because it was a film which was hugely successful in 2001, and now in 2023, it is breaking every record.”

When he was asked whom he’d message if he hypothetically got his hands on Sunny’s phone, Karan joked that he’d text the entire film industry and tell them that “this is how it’s done”.
