Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel-starrer Gadar 2 has been running in theatres for almost three weeks now, and on its 20th day of release, which was also the holiday of Raksha Bandhan in many parts of the country, the film made Rs 8.75 crore, as per industry tracker Sacnilk. This takes the film’s domestic nett collection to Rs 474.5 crore.

Gadar 2 started its box office journey with an impressive Rs 40.10 crore on opening day, and by the end of its first weekend, the film had already minted Rs 134.88 crore. The Anil Sharma film was made made on a budget of Rs 60 crore, as per the director, and the film has now made almost eight times its budget in India. Gadar 2 is still the second-highest grosser of 2023 after Pathaan, which made Rs 543.05 crore during its theatrical run. Gadar 2 is still short by Rs 68.55 crore.

With Ayushmann Khurrana-starrer Dream Girl 2 releasing in theatres on August 25, Gadar 2’s business took a slight hit. After six days in the theatres, Ayushmann’s film has made Rs 59.75 crore, which is considerably decent given the fact that not many Hindi films have performed at the box office this year, including his own.

Now, Gadar 2 will face competition against Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan, which is set to release on September 7. In a recent chat with Zoom, Sunny shared that Shah Rukh and his family spoke to film before they watched Gadar 2. “Yes, Shah Rukh and me… As a matter of fact, he has seen the film, but before that he had called me up and wished me, and he was so happy. He said, ‘I am so happy, you genuinely deserve it’. I thanked him. Then I spoke to his wife, then his son. Shah Rukh said they were watching the film that night and I was like great! I think he saw the film and tweeted that. I spoke to him a couple of days back when he had called up, it was so beautiful.” The two actors have not appeared in any films together since 1993’s Darr.
