Gadar 2 box office collection day 15: Sunny Deol’s film sees a drop in its earnings as it approaches Rs 430 crore mark

Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel‘s Gadar 2 has been holding the fort at the box office for over two weeks, and has become the second-biggest Hindi movie of the year so far. However, the Anil Sharma directorial is slowly seeing a drop in its daily box office collections. After making Rs 8.20 crore on Thursday (day 14), according to Sacnilk, the film has logged in Rs 6.70 crore on Friday (day 15).

Gadar 2 had a great opening in cinemas when it released on August 11, along with Akshay Kumar-starrer OMG 2, which has made Rs 128.22 crore till now. While these two films enjoyed a good run at the box office for two weeks, their earnings are now being affected as Ananya Panday and Ayushmann Khurrana’s Dream Girl 2 has released in cinemas and is getting a warm response by the audience. Interestingly, Gadar 2 was expected to overtake the lifetime haul posted by Shah Rukh Khan-starrer Pathaan, which stands at Rs 540 crore. However, according to Sacnilk, Gadar 2 might not be able to beat Pathaan’s record despite making nearly Rs 430 crore so far.

Gadar 2, a sequel to Gadar: Ek Prem Katha (2001), successfully tapped into ’90s nostalgia and Sunny Deol’s star power. The film’s songs “Udd Jaa Kaale Kaava” and “Main Nikla Gaddi Leke” have also received a lot of love from audiences and music lovers equally.

Sunny and Ameesha, who have been extensively promoting the film in different parts of India, have now concluded their promotional events as the film’s theatrical journey draws to a close.
