Faissal Khan, actor and Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan’s younger brother, turned director four years ago with the 2021 psychological thriller Faactory, in which he also played the lead role. The next year, he appeared in the Kannada crime action drama Oppanda. Now, days after declaring that he’s cut all ties with his family and maintained that he won’t claim monthly allowances from Aamir anymore, Faissal has revealed that he’s planning to direct his next.

“On the work front, I’m trying to start a film. I’ve written a couple of scripts in lockdown. Around fourteen actors have already liked the subject. It’s a multi-starrer film,” Faissal told IANS, adding, “I will be the director, I might do a cameo role in it, but I will be basically directing. Now, I’m moving more towards direction. But if I get some good role, I’ll do it.”

Last week, Faissal had revealed  that he was surviving on a monthly allowance given by Aamir. It started with Rs 30,000 and increased gradually. He claimed he also worked as a “script doctor” for Aamir Khan Productions in exchange for the allowance. However, he’s now severed ties with Aamir and the rest of his family after alleged mistreatment years ago, and also renounced the monthly allowance.

Faissal also alleged that Aamir mistreated him and kept him locked in a house for a year, claiming he suffered from schizophrenia. He also claimed that he was hospitalised for 20 days in a general ward alongside individuals with mental health issues. Faissal blamed not only Aamir, but also their mother Zeenat Hussain, elder sister Nikhat Khan, and her husband Santosh Hegde.

However, Aamir and his family issued a statement urging the media to show empathy and not turn a private matter into “salacious, inflammatory, and hurtful gossip.” “We are distressed by Faisal’s hurtful and misleading portrayal of his mother Zeenat Tahir Husain, his sister Nikhat Hegde, and his brother Aamir. As this is not the first time he has misrepresented these events, we feel it necessary to clarify our intentions, and reaffirm our solidarity as a family,” the statement read.

“It is important to share that every choice regarding Faisal has been taken collectively as a family, in consultation with multiple medical professionals, and has been based on love, compassion, and a desire to support his emotional and psychological wellbeing. For this reason, we have refrained from publicly discussing the details of a painful and difficult period for our family,” it added.

The statement was issued collectively by Zeenat, Santosh, Nikhat, Aamir, his elder son Junaid Khan, first ex-wife Reena Datta, sister Farhat Datta, brother-in-law Rajiv Datta, second ex-wife Kiran Rao, niece Seher Hegde, cousins Mansoor Khan and Nuzhat Khan, nephew Imran Khan, sister-in-law Tina Fonseca, niece Zayn Marie, and nephew Pablo Khan.
