Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat box office collection Day 5: Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat, starring Harshvardhan Rane and Sonam Bajwa in the lead roles, opened to negative reviews but has shown steady growth at the box office thanks to positive word of mouth. In just five days since its release, the film has managed to cross the Rs 30-crore mark in India.

According to trade tracker Sacnilk, Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat earned Rs 9 crore on Day 1, followed by Rs 7.75 crore on Day 2. On Day 3, the film collected Rs 6 crore, and Rs 5.5 crore on Day 4. On its first Saturday, the Harshvardhan Rane starrer brought in Rs 5.75 crore, taking its total collection to Rs 34 crore. After witnessing a steady decline in earnings through the week, Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat recorded a 4.55% growth on Saturday.

Despite clashing with Maddock Films’ horror-comedy Thamma, featuring Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna, and releasing on fewer screens, Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat continues to enjoy a respectable run. On the other hand, Thamma is inching close to the Rs 80 crore mark.

The film, meanwhile, has drawn criticism for promoting regressive and misogynistic themes. In a recent interview, director Milap Zaveri acknowledged that he was aware the film would evoke diverse opinions.

Talking to Bollywood Hungama, Milap said, “This is the era of Animal and Kabir Singh where audiences have accepted such characters with open hearts, even though they are flawed, their heart is in the right place.”

He added, “Look at Shah Rukh sir in Anjaam and Darr. The torture and trouble that Shah Rukh sir puts Madhuri ma’am through in Anjaam is irredeemable. Maybe that is also the reason why the film failed. Harshvardhan Rane had told me about a beautiful line from one of Shah Rukh sir’s interview where he said, ‘Even when I am bad, I’ll make you love me!’ Harsh took an inspiration from that line. He told me, ‘Even though I am bad, I’ll try my best to be lovable.’”

Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat, produced by Desi Movies Factory, also stars Shaad Randhawa, Sachin Khedekar, Ananth Narayan Mahadevan, and Rajesh Khera in pivotal roles.
