Ayushmann Khurrana’s Dream Girl 2 is having a dream run at the box office. After seeing a downswing during weekdays, the film has managed to retain its numbers as the weekend arrived. While it earned Rs 6.36 crore on Saturday, it minted almost 8 crore on Sunday, reported industry tracker Sacnilk. This brings the 10-day collection to Rs 86.06 crore.

The Raaj Shaandilyaa-directed comedy-drama also stars Ananya Panday in the lead role. Before Shah Rukh Khan arrives in cinema halls with Jawan this Thursday, Dream Girl 2 saw a whopping 37.54 percent occupancy in the Hindi-speaking domain. Interestingly, the maximum crowd (56.62 percent) was for evening shows, followed by afternoon (43.85 percent), night (32.87 percent) and morning (16.81 percent). The film is eyeing the Rs 100 crore lifetime earning mark, and the next three days would be crucial for it.

Ayushmann Khurrana’s biggest hit in four years

Before Dream Girl 2, Ayushmann Khurrana had a string of flops. His recent films An Action Hero, Doctor G, Anek and Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui could not bring the audience to the theatres. An Action Hero made Rs 10.89 crore, Doctor G made Rs 26.45 crore, Anek made Rs 8.15 crore and Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui made Rs 28.26 crore in its lifetime collection, as per Bollywood Hungama. Even before the pandemic, Ayushmann’s last release Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan could only make Rs 60.78 crore through its run. Dream Girl 2 crossed this mark in its first week. Ayushmann’s last hit was 2019’s Bala which made Rs 116.81 crore at the box office.

Dream Girl 2 is a part of the Dream Girl franchise which was the biggest hit of Ayushmann’s career. The film made Rs 142.26 crore when it released in 2019. It seems unlikely that Dream Girl 2 will be able to break its record given that it will witness a dip in its collections next week after Jawan’s release.

Dream Girl 2 also stars Paresh Rawal, Manjot Singh, Seema Pahwa, Annu Kapoor, Rajpal Yadav, Abhishek Banerjee, Asrani, Vijay Raaz, and Manoj Joshi in key roles.
