Water supply will be cut off to most parts of Pune city on Thursday due to emergency repair and maintenance work to be undertaken at all pumping stations and purification plants in Parvati, Warje and Pune Cantonment. The supply will be restored on Friday and will likely have lower pressure than usual. “The repair and maintenance work includes electrical and civil work of the pipeline to be carried out on Thursday,” said Nandkishore Jagtap, chief engineer who is in charge of civic water works.
Areas that will not get water supply include the central part of the city, including the peth areas. It will also have an impact on localities around Sinhagad Road, Shivajinagar, Deccan Gymkhana, Pune-Satara road and Pune-Solapur road.
Meanwhile, areas like Kondhwa gaothan, Meethanagar, Saibabanagar, Dnyaneshwarnagar, Malik Nagar, Sandeshnagar, Ekopa society, Shankar society, Kushal society, New Era society, Sopan Maharaj society, Madhu Mangesh society, Poonam society, Geet Govind society, Lalbaug society, Indiranagar and Gultekdi industrial area will be affected by the disruption.
The residents of Padmavati, Taljai Hill, Chavan Nagar, Sambhaji Nagar, Panchal Wasti and More Wasti, Bibewadi Gaothan, Sant Eknathnagar society, Bharat Jyoti society, Ramyanagri, Gangadham society, Vardhamanpura society and Swayambhu society, Damodar society, Mahesh society, Vaibhav society, Dharamveer Park, Ganesh vihar society, Vighnaharta hospital, Vaibhav society, Durgamata garden, New Ganesh Nagar, Pasalkar Bhavan and some parts of Upper Indiranagar will not get supply in the day.
Other areas that will face a cut in water supply include Punyai Nagar, Ahilyadevi Chowk, Satara road, Chintamani hotel, State Bank Nagar, Chaitravan society, Om Alankar society, Jaiour garden, Manmohak Park, Kimaya society, Hastinapuram, Pooja Park, Taware society, Poonam Garden, Bhagyashreenagar, Purple society, Chintamani residency and Ganeshnagar, Kalanagar, Daulatnagar, Urmila society, Kundannagar, Sangatinagar, Rakshaleksha, Nityananad society, Chaitanyanagar and Mungle Annanagar.
On Pune-Nagar road, Kharadi, Lohegaon, Vimannagar and other localities in the region will not have water supply on the day. Similarly, localities alongside Pune-Alandi road would not get water supply.
There will be no supply in Pashan, Bhugaon, Bhusari colony, Bavdhan, Sutarwadi, Someshwawadi, Sus Road, Aundh, Bopodi, Pune University, Khadki, Baner and Balewadi. The supply will also be disrupted in localities around Karve road, upto Warje, Law College Road, Paud Road, and Erandwane.
The project, originally valued at Rs 412 crore, was aimed at modernising the distribution network, improving service reliability, and reducing non-revenue water. (File)
