Deepika Padukone and Farah Khan were having a ‘very personal’ talk on Jawan set; here’s how the star reacted when Ridhi Dogra said she could hear everything
Ridhi Dogra recalled another anecdote about Deepika Padukone from the sets of the film Jawan, in which she played a jailer who became a mother-figure to Shah Rukh Khan's character Azaad.

Actor Ridhi Dogra, who played a supporting role in the blockbuster film Jawan, spoke about the atmosphere on set and how gracious her co-stars were. Recalling an anecdote about Deepika Padukone in an interview, Ridhi said that the star invited her to participate in a conversation that she was having with choreographer Farah Khan on set. Deepika’s gesture made Ridhi feel included.
In the film, Ridhi plays the role of Kaveri, the woman who raises Shah Rukh Khan’s character Azaad after his actual mother, played by Deepika, dies. Ridhi has addressed the reservations that she had about playing SRK’s mother-figure, but said that she took this as a challenge.
In an interview with Bollywood Hungama, Ridhi said that Deepika is a ‘beautiful human being’ and brought so much empathy to her extended cameo. “I don’t like disturbing actors, because I also don’t like being disturbed on set, so I didn’t really disturb her. But she was very generous, very friendly,” she said.
Ridhi continued, “I remember at one point she and Farah were talking about something very personal, and we were all sitting behind the monitor. And I was like, ‘Guys, I’m right here, I don’t want to intrude’. And Deepika was like, ‘It’s okay, you also be in this conversation’.” Earlier, Ridhi had recalled how Deepika had quietly moved her chair to be nearer to her, only to make her feel more included. Ridhi said that she really appreciated this gesture.
Directed by Atlee, Jawan is emerging as one of the year’s biggest hits. The film has grossed more than Rs 880 crore worldwide, having broken several box office records in India. It will soon surpass the lifetime collections of Shah Rukh’s Pathaan to become the biggest Bollywood hit of the year.
