Deepika Padukone’s ‘Piku’ earns Rs 24 cr in the first weekend

Thanks to a strong word of mouth, ‘Piku‘ starring Deepika Padukone, Amitabh Bachchan and Irrfan Khan has grown phenomenally on Sunday (May 10). The movie minted a total of Rs 11.20 cr on the last day of the weekend which was double the amount it had earned on the first day of its release.

On Day 1 (Friday), the movie collected a mere Rs. 5.32 cr, which went higher on Day 2 (Saturday) – Rs. 8.20 cr, and on Day 3 (Sunday), it grossed a total of Rs. 11.20 cr.

Trade Analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted the figures.

Also, talking about how well the movie was doing, he tweeted:

The movie which portrays the relationship of Piku (Deepika) and his Baba (Amitabh Bachchan) is getting a thumbs up from the fans.

Sujoy Ghosh, who directed ‘Kahaani’ starring Vidya Balan, was completely bowled over by the movie and its actors.
