Chennai Express sets new records,crosses Rs 150 crore mark

After having crossed the Rs 100 crore mark in just three days of its release,Chennai Express has now collected a whopping Rs 150 crore in its fist weekend itself.

Quoting the figures across India,noted critic Taran Adarsh tweeted “#ChennaiExpress sets new benchmarks,crosses 150 cr”

The movie also benefitted from the Independence day holiday and collected Rs 19 crore on August 15.

The Rohit Shetty rom-com featuring Deepika Padukone and Shah Rukh in lead roles hit 3,500 screens all across the country.

Made at a budget of approximately,Rs. 70 crore,the film collected Rs. 6.75 crore from Thursday paid previews in India and on opening day,Rs.33.12 crore.

Chennai Express has been listed number 4 in all-time grosser with 3 Idiots at number 1,followed by Salman Khan’s Ek Tha Tiger and then Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani at number 2 and 3 respectively.

With the second weekend coming up,looks like the film is going to reach the much-coveted Rs 200 cr. mark soon.
