Box office report: ‘Shootout At Wadala’ hits Rs 30 cr,’Bombay Talkies’ far behind

<i>Shootout</i> was panned by the critics but John's fans have loved the action drama.

John Abraham is a happy man — after winning a National award for his debut production Vicky Donor,his new movie Shootout At Wadala has hit a bullseye at the box office.

Sharing the weekend figures on Twitter,Trade analyst Taran Adarsh said that the movie has earned around Rs 30.7 crores in its opening weekend.

The movie,which has Anil Kapoor,Manoj Bajpayee,Tusshar Kapoor,Kangana Ranaut in the lead,has also performed well overseas.

On the other hand,Bombay Talkies,which was helmed by four top notch directors – Karan Johar,Anurag Kashyap,Dibakar Banerjee and Zoya Akhtar – is far behind and has only collected a meagre Rs 5 crore. Read Review: Bombay Talkies

The movie got rave reviews but it hasn’t translated into numbers on the box office.

Bombay Talkies was released on the day when India’s first feature film – Raja Harishchandra – by the legendary Dadasaheb Phalke was released.
