Sam Bahadur box office collection day 7: Vicky Kaushal’s biopic stays afloat, will pass Rs 50 crore worldwide today
Sam Bahadur box office collection day 7: Despite facing heavy competition from Ranbir Kapoor's Animal, Vicky Kaushal's Sam Bahadur is maintaining a steady pace.

Vicky Kaushal’s Sam Bahadur, the biopic of Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw, has been struggling in the wake of the Animal onslaught. According to industry tracker Sacnilk, the film made Rs 3.05 crore on its seventh day of release, taking its total box office earnings to Rs 38.85 crore nett in India. Worldwide, the film has made over 49 crore, and will pass the Rs 50 crore mark today.
Directed by Meghna Gulzar, Sam Bahadur also stars Sanya Malhotra and Fatima Sana Sheikh. The film was given a limited, Hindi-only release, unlike Animal, which is playing nationwide. On Thursday, the film witnessed an overall 21.39% occupancy. Mumbai recorded 24.25% occupancy and Pune continued to record the highest occupancy with 42.75%.

Sam Bahadur released on December 1 along with Ranbir Kapoor’s Animal, which has been breaking all the box office records, and has already made more than Rs 500 crore worldwide. Despite facing heavy competition from Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s film, Sam Bahadur has maintained a steady pace at the ticket windows. While discussing the clash with Animal, Vicky said at the Indian Express Adda recently, “When two opening batsmen come to the crease, playing for the same team, you won’t say that the two batsmen are clashing with each other; they are playing for a single team, so we are playing for Hindi cinema.”
On the latest episode of Koffee with Karan, Vicky had opened up about how he’s drawn towards real-life heroes. Before playing Sam Manekshaw, he had played the revolutionary Udham Singh in Shoojit Sircar’s Sardar Udham, and will star in Laxman Utekar’s upcoming film Chaava, based on the life of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj. He had also expressed his desire to now do a more commercial, Hindi masala potboiler.
Vicky was last seen in the film The Great Indian Family, which had a negligible box office run. Before that, he starred in Zara Hatke Zara Bachke opposite Sara Ali Khan. The film earned Rs 115 crore worldwide. He’ll next be seen doing a special role in Shah Rukh Khan’s Dunki, directed by Rajkumar Hirani. The film is scheduled to release on December 21.
