Varun Dhawan, Taapsee Pannu and Jacqueline Fernandez are happily basking in the success of their latest film ‘Judwaa 2’. Now, that the movie has officially been declared superhit, there is no looking back for the trio. Until Thursday, the David Dhawan directorial collected a total of Rs 98.08 crore. The film’s stronghold over the crucial week made it a clear winner.
‘Judwaa 2’ is a remake of 1997 Salman Khan film ‘Judwaa’. Trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted the latest figures, and the break-up for all the past t days. “#Judwaa2 Fri 16.10 cr, Sat 20.55 cr, Sun 22.60 cr, Mon 18 cr, Tue 8.05 cr, Wed 6.72 cr, Thu 6.06 cr. Total: ₹ 98.08 cr. India biz. SUPERHIT” he wrote.
After a smooth first week, will Judwaa 2 be able to survive Saif Ali Khan’s new film Chef which opens today? “To some extent ‘Judwaa 2’ will remain a competition to ‘Chef’. It has done fantastic business and the mass has really loved the film. But ‘Chef’, as a new release, has an edge over ‘Judwaa 2’,” said trade analyst Girish Johar.
Meanwhile, Varun Dhawan with his back-to-back hits this year, ‘Badrinath Ki Dulhania’ and ‘Judwaa 2’, is not only giving serious competition to his contemporaries but also his seniors such as Akshay Kumar and Shah Rukh Khan.

On the very first day, ‘Judwaa 2’ was able to beat Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘Jab Harry Met Sejal’ and gain the fourth spot in the list of the highest openers of 2017, leaving the superstar’s movie in the fifth position.
By the end of the first weekend, Varun Dhawan was able to earn more than Akshay Kumar’s ‘Jolly LLB 2’ and ‘Toilet: Ek Prem Katha’, and secure the fifth position in the top 10 list of highest weekend grossers of 2017.
