Nana Patekar’s The Vaccine War, directed by National Award-winning filmmaker Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri, and Mrigdeep Singh Lamba’s Fukrey 3 starring Varun Sharma and Richa Chadha released in cinemas on September 28. The day 5 box office collection of these two films is out on Sacnilk and while Fukrey 3 roughly earned around Rs 11.50 crore on Gandhi Jayanti holiday, The Vaccine War continued to struggle with a mere Rs 1.50 crore on Monday.

Fukrey 3 has already deposited Rs 54.98 in the bank in its five days run in cinemas, and had a 32.80%  occupancy in western and northern India. The film is expected to cross the Rs 100 crore mark before it is taken off from the cinemas for the arrival of Akshay Kumar’s Mission Raniganj, Bhumi Pednekar and Shehnaaz Gill’s Thank you for Coming and Rajveer Deol’s debut Dono.

However, even on a public holiday on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti people hardly went to watch Vivek Agnihotri’s directorial as it had only 13.53% occupancy in the Hindi belt. The film’s total earnings stand at Rs 7.25 crore. There was a lot of hype surrounding the film as it marked the comeback of Nana Patekar after a gap of five years and Vivek was riding high on the success of last year’s The Kashmir Files, which minted Rs 326.95 crore gross worldwide and was a superhit at the box office.

Fukrey 3 is the third installment in the hit comedy franchise Fukrey. About what turns films into hit franchises, the film’s producer, Ritesh Sidhwani had said in a press conference, “It (sequels) works if the characters are great and there is enough love for the film for people to consume it. You should continue to make the film if you feel that the story is organically and seamlessly moving forward because there is already a fanbase for the film, but you have to deliver.”
