Bobby Deol is the living example of not giving up. After being sidelined for so many years, Bobby Deol is finally back on top and is making the most of each moment. He made his debut in 1995 in the film Barsaat, which also won him a Filmfare award for Best Male Debut. The young boy from Bombay was an instant hit and made a space for himself in the hearts of the audience. After marrying wife Tanya Ahuja the very next year, he was ready to take on the Hindi film industry, but life had other plans.
Deol found himself struggling after a few years. He did not land many roles, and the ones he did were not getting the right amount of reception. As new faces started filling up the spaces and gaps in the industry, he found himself on the outside, looking in.
In a conversation with India Today, Deol talked about the bad phases of his character and how he bounced back from those times. “It was different when I started out, as people would offer me work by themselves. Then the population of actors increased; it’s sad that we forget that there are so many people coming in and will continue to,” stated the Animal actor.

In such a competitive industry where each day new players enter the game, Deol mentioned the importance of being seen on the screen and how he did many roles that he did not like, but he did not want to be out of the game. He states that there should be no shame in asking for work, “I have knocked on doors and told them I am Bobby Deol, and please give me work. I don’t think there is anything wrong with that, as you need work. At least they will remember that Bobby Deol had come to meet me. This also gets translated to work sometimes. So, there is nothing to be ashamed of.”
After going through steep highs and lows, Bobby Deol made a comeback with the Netflix series Class of 83′. Deol received love and critical appreciation for his portrayal of police officer Vijay Singh. Soon after that, the MX Player original Ashram dropped, in which Deol plays the role of the multi-faceted character of Baba Nirala.
Both the roles brought him back in the spotlight, but it was his performance in Animal as Abrar, opposite Ranbir Kapoor, that has given his career a well-deserved lifeline. This story is an example of grit and determination at its very best.
“You won’t get things by not trying. And with hard work, even if it seems far, you would be getting closer to your goal. Desperation does bring negativity, but you go through that and come out. There is no one to help you swim through it. When you realise that, the journey becomes easier,” said Bobby.
Clearly, Bobby Deol is back, and this time he is here to stay. His next project, Hari Hara Veera Mallu, is set to release in 2025, where he will be playing the tyrant Mughal king Aurangzeb.
