Shahid Kapoor has been playing the angry guy for a while now and his latest film Bloody Daddy, directed by Ali Abbas Zafar, has him playing another angry man who is involved in some kind of drug trade and occasionally gets to shoot a flamethrower. The trailer of Bloody Daddy released on Wednesday and it hints that the events of this film are spread across one night where Shahid’s character is embroiled in a drug deal.

The film also stars Ronit Roy, Sanjay Kapoor, Rajeev Khandelwal, Diana Penty and Shahid is throwing punches in every direction. From his attire, it seems like there is an attempt to make him seem like John Wick but it is yet to be seen if there are any comparison between the two.

Bloody Daddy is set to release on June 9 on Jio Cinemas. The audience will not have to pay anything to watch the film on the platform. This is quite rare for a Hindi film that stars someone as significant as Shahid, and is directed by someone who has previously made films like Sultan, Bharat and more recently Jogi.

Previously, Shahid spoke about the film’s big scale and its release on OTT and said in a statement, “I had a great time doing an action film. I really enjoyed working with Ali. He understands the genre very well. The dilemma now is that if you’re doing something of this scale on OTT, what do you do on the big screen? So we have to figure that out. But it’s been a blast.”

Shahid hasn’t had a box office success since 2019’s Kabir Singh. Jersey, which released in 2022, failed at the box office. Bloody Daddy will have an OTT release so there won’t be any box office figures for this one. The actor will next be seen with Kriti Sanon in a love story. The film is scheduled to release in October 2023.
