Actor Ranveer Singh made an impactful debut in 2010 with Yash Raj Films’ Band Baaja Baaraat. The romantic comedy, also starring Anushka Sharma in the lead role, went on to become an audience favourite. In a conversation with Kareena Kapoor Khan on the latest episode of What Women Want, Bhumi Pednekar recalled Ranveer’s Band Baaja Baaraat audition, back when she was a casting director in 2009.

On the chat show, Kareena asked Bhumi if she had any fun incidents to share from the time she was a casting director. The actor replied, “I have a very good memory of Ranveer’s audition for Band Baaja Baaraat. He is so phenomenal and such a wonderful person. When he entered our casting office in Juhu, the energy that we see now on the red carpet or while interacting with people, that is the energy he had at that time.”

She added, “I had never seen somebody coming in for an audition with that persona. I remember that I was rehearsing lines with him and usually I would be very good because I would have taken at least 100 auditions of the same scenes by then, but it was the first time in a take when I forgot my lines. At that time I realised that this person in front of me is so brilliant. I don’t think I will ever forget that experience.”

Bhumi Pednekar also mentioned that she has imbibed a quality of the Padmavat actor in her. “That energy and confidence was one thing I learnt from him. I continued that in my life as an actor. It is so important to be so positive in life. He is very kind as a person as well. I have literally known him when I was an assistant. And even till date when I meet him, the love is exactly the same, which I feel is incredible,” she said.

Meanwhile, on the work front, Bhumi will be seen next in Meri Patni Ka Remake, helmed by Mudassar Aziz. It is scheduled to hit theatres in 2025.
