Telugu young star Bellamkonda Sreenivas is all set to make his Hindi debut with Chatrapathi. The film, a remake of SS Rajamouli’s 2005 hit starring Prabhas, also stars Nushrratt Bharuccha, Bhagyashree, and Sharad Kelkar among others. On Tuesday, at the trailer launch of the film, Sreenivas opened up about entering the Hindi market and why he thinks his film is different from Rajamouli’s.
Overwhelmed with the loud cheers as he entered the stage, Bellamkonda Sreenivas first thanked everyone, especially the director VV Vinayak. He shared that the filmmaker had launched him and the actor has been trained in acting by Vinayak himself. Sreenivas said that he could not have asked for a better launch than Chatrapathi for his pan-India debut. Calling it one of the best films, he assured that audiences will have a great experience while watching it.
As the actor was asked if he’s trying to start a new trend by featuring in a Hindi film, he said, “There have been so many films that have been watched by people across the country. Actors like Chiranjeevi and Venkatesh have also been featured in Hindi films. Now, we have more access to content and that has made us reach every corner. For me, I just wanted to take on a new challenge. This is like climbing a mountain, I may fall but I will keep trying.”
Sreenivas also said that he would be excited if SS Rajamouli calls him after the film. “That would be a great moment for any actor. To do even the smallest part in his film would be a big achievement,” he shared. And when asked about remaking the filmmaker’s film, the actor said. “Honestly, when we started with this film, we never thought of it as a remake. That film was made in 2005 and was in Telugu. So not many people must have watched it in the country. Our film is based in today’s time and is pitched at a much bigger scale. When we decided to do it, we wanted to make it as a new film and thus wouldn’t call it a remake.”
Nushrratt Bharuccha, who was also present at the launch, was also quizzed about doing a ‘pan-India’ film. The actor confessed that she hadn’t watched many South films and didn’t have an idea about the kind of content being made there. “It all changed for me post-Baahubali. I realised that you can connect with emotions beyond language. It’s rightly said that art has no barrier. That’s when I decided, if an opportunity comes, I would love to do something. I feel blessed that we are in a time when audiences want to see pan-India films. They want to see different cultures, ethnicity, and in any language. The important part is that you do it convincingly and with belief. I am really very happy to be part of Chatrapathi.”
The action drama bankrolled by Pen Movies will hit screens on May 12.
