Two days after her husband Farhan Azmi was arrested by Goa police following a scuffle at Candolim, actor Ayesha Takia shared videos from the scene, claiming how the Goan people involved in the scuffle misbehaved with them, and even the police. Ayesha claimed that her husband is, in fact, the victim here as the police also arrested the “bullies,” “hooligans” and “goons” who intimidated Farhan and their 11-year-old son Mikail.

Ayesha reposted on Instagram Stories a news portal claiming that Farhan Azmi, son of Samajwadi Party leader Abu Azmi, was arrested for threatening Goa locals and abusing his power. She defended her husband and wrote, “Goa police has booked these hooligans/bullies also… Pls refrain from spreading lies. Pls watch all videos n see the goons for urself… refrain from blaming Farhan and my 11 yr old, who are the actual victims.” “Farhan abusing power???? Pls the actual bullies for yourself. Pls hear these rowdy women call my son dirty words and intimidate him.. he is 11 yrs old… Farhan was already in the cop car at this point… Who are these horrendous, disgusting women… Shameful…”

Ayesha shared another video captured from inside her car, in which the said Goan couple can be seen trying to retrieve a bag from a police officer. Even when the officer resists them and sits inside the car, the couple continues to force themselves into the car and refuse to let the car leave, while shouting. Ayesha wrote along with the video, “See how they behave with the police to get the bag with Farhan’s licensed weapon… See how disrespectful and dangerous they are even with the law…  See how she asks blatantly for his weapon… which as u can hear is in a bag with the cops… He never even removed it…”

Goa police arrested Farhan Azmi and others for a scuffle in the Candolim market late on Monday night. The police said the fight broke out over “a petty matter” and that Farhan kept telling the others that he’s carrying a licensed gun in his bag. Ayesha took to her Instagram Stories later to clarify that her husband informed the police, only to get a complaint registered against him. “It was a night of horror for our family up until this morning… Just saw this post and need to share. I will share more in due time… My husband and son were brutally bullied and scared for their life as local Goan goons mobbed, threatened, and tormented them for hours… They even badly roughed up the police who were called by my husband to protect our son and him,” she wrote. She added that the crowd “repeatedly cursed Farhan and my son for being from Maharashtra and having a big car.”

Ayesha Takia made her acting debut with Abbas-Mustan’s 2004 supernatural action thriller Taarzan: The Wonder Car. She appeared in films like Socha Na Tha, Salaam-E-Ishq, Dor, and Wanted, before retiring from films in 2011 at the age of 25. She married restaurateur Abu Azmi in 2009.
