Actor Arshad Warsi, who is riding on the success of Asur 2, recently opened up about being replaced by Salman Khan as the host of Bigg Boss, and by Akshay Kumar in Jolly LLB 2. Arshad hosted Bigg Boss before Salman made the show his own, and played the titular character in the first Jolly LLB film.
While talking about why Akshay replaced him in Jolly LLB 2, he revealed that he and Akshay are all set to team up in Jolly LLB 3. Talking to Amar Ujala, Arshad said, “Now Jolly LLB 3 is in the making and you will see Akshay teaming up with me in the film. This was the original plan – I’d feature in the first film, he’ll do the second.” The two actors were last seen together in Bachchhan Paandey last year.
Opening up about Salman taking over as the host of TV reality show Bigg Boss, after he hosted the first season, Arshad said, “As for Bigg Boss, I could not do the next season as I had gone to London for a shoot. But I do believe Salman Khan is the best host the show could have. No one could have done that job better than Salman. The reality show needs a ‘Dabangg’ like Salman.”
Arshad started his journey in Bollywood as an assistant director to Mahesh Bhatt on Kaash (1987), he then moved on to become a choreographer in Anil Kapoor, Sridevi and Jackie Shroff’s Roop Ki Raani Choron Ka Raja (1993). He made his acting debut in Tere Mere Sapne (1996), however his breakthrough performance as Circuit in Sanjay Dutt’s Munna Bhai MBBS (2003) put him on the map.
However, Arshad recently told Bollywood Hungama that “many projects” he was in consideration for went to other actors at the “last minute.” He said, “I know I can do much more, I know I could have done much more. All actors feel that but yes, I think I am quite under used. I could have done many, many projects. There are many projects that I was supposed to do, but last minute it went to other people. I realised they shouldn’t have done that, because I would have done a far better job. So yes, I am underrated and underused.”
