Arjun Bijlani has made a name for himself after starring in memorable TV shows like Miley Jab Hum Tum, Pardes Mein Mila Koi Apna and more. But before establishing himself in the television industry, Arjun went through a tough phase in life as he faced financial constraints after losing his father at the age of 19. In a recent interaction, the actor opened up about the tragedy and how it completely changed his life.

Speaking to Siddharth Kannan, he said, “Our financial life was over. From an amazing life, it was a complete 360 turn. We used to live in town and that house… that’s another story, but we had to shift from Mahim, like I studied in Bombay Scottish and HR College and suddenly I was in Malad and living in a 1bhk on rent with my mom and brother. There I would take Rs 100 from my mom to travel in train to give auditions. Earlier, we would travel in a car and then I was going in train to give auditions and it all happened overnight. We had sell our own 2bhk house in town in Mumbai. We even had to sell our car. Everything was just gone.”

Arjun also shared that he had sold his mother’s jewellery to get his first photoshoot done. He said, “The whole culture changed, my friends were from town and here I was lost because I knew nobody. Even to make my first portfolio that would cost Rs 8000, I had to mortgage my mom‘s gold. Later, I realised that more money is needed so I just sold that gold.” He later admitted, “When I started earning the first thing I did was to take my mom for jewellery shopping.”

However, while trying to buy a house, he was cheated by a close friend. He revealed, “Somebody cheated me with very big money. A friend told me that he has to do white-black of some money, and so he took cash from me and just vanished.” He added, “I lost around Rs 30-35 lakh and I think this was around 2010.
