Aparshakti Khurana, who was recently seen in Stree 2, describes his and brother Ayushmann Khurrana’s relationship as an “old school Ram-Lakshman” kind of relationship. The two have a three year age difference and Aparshakti recalled how their father found a way to resolve their conflicts from a very young age. In a recent interview, Aparshakti said that once after a fight, their father made a rule that every morning, Aparshakti would touch his older brother’s feet, or else he would not be allowed to live in the house.

Talking to Digital Commentary, Aparshakti recalled, “The thing is, you don’t really know how to speak with your older brother when you are young, you don’t know how to respect him. So Papa used to keep telling me that call him ‘bhaiya’ but I wouldn’t.” Aparshakti then spoke about a fight that happened when he was around 8-9 years old that led to him saying some bad words to Ayushmann.

“Then one day, when we were playing, we got into a fight and I called him something like ‘saala’ or ‘kameena’ or something and that day I was beaten up a lot. After that, the conclusion was that from this day on, you will call him ‘bhaiya’ and every morning you will touch his feet in the morning and that is the only way you can stay in this house, or you can’t stay in this house,” he recalled.

Aparshakti Khurana then shared that this contributed to their relationship. “I think once you start doing this, there is lesser scope to fight or to have a conflict because then you can’t yell at them, and you will not say any bad thing. And if you don’t say anything bad, there is no room for a fight so it’s a very old school Ram-Lakshman kind of a relationship. We have a very middle class and small town upbringing and perhaps, that’s why things are still good between us,” he said.

Aparshakti’s latest film Berlin is now streaming on ZEE5.
