Anurag Kashyap’s daughter Aaliyah Kashyap shares video of fiancé Shane Gregoire’s secret proposal: ‘Cried for three hours straight’

Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap’s daughter Aaliyah posted a new vlog on her YouTube channel, giving a glimpse of how her boyfriend Shane Gregoire planned his proposal. Aaliyah, who is a social media influencer, and Shane got engaged earlier this week while travelling in Bali, and they took to their respective Instagram accounts to announce the news.

In her new vlog, Aaliyah praised Shane for secretly planning the whole thing, from ordering her ‘dream ring’ online to seeking help from a friend, and even managing to record the big moment on camera. Shane documented the entire process in personal vlogs, and said, “More than anything, I want it to be intimate. Just me an Aaliyah. I don’t want to do anything big and grand. That’s not my style, and I don’t think it’s Aaliyah’s either. Just want to keep it super personal, and have to figure out a way to get that filmed, because I think it’s too special of a moment to not have filmed, that we can show our children…”

Because Shane didn’t want someone filming them, he attached a camera to his scooter, which they drove to a beautiful spot. Aaliyah said that she cried ‘for three hours straight’ after the proposal, and then cried when she rewatched Shane’s secret video. The video clip shows Aaliyah admiring the sunset, and Shane walking up from behind her and getting down on one knee. The couple decided to not reveal what they said to each other in the moment, so the clip unfolds silently, with romantic music playing over it. Aaliyah teared up as she hugged and kissed Shane, and passers-by recognised what was happening and congratulated them.

Aaliyah said that she’d probably post another video answering some fan questions, like when the wedding is happening. “Or if I’m getting a dowry,” Shane joked. In an Instagram post, her father Anurag Kashyap joked that he is ‘calculating the number of remakes (he) will have to do to throw a wedding soirée’ for Aaliyah and Shane.
