Ankita Lokhande emotionally recalls looking at the photo of Sushant Singh Rajput’s remains: ‘It looked like he was sleeping’

Ankita Lokhande recalled that in the days after Sushant Singh Rajput's death, she blocked many people on social media.

Ankita Lokhande, who is currently a participant on Bigg Boss 17, recently opened up about the death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput while speaking to Munawar Faruqui. Ankita got emotional as she recalled looking at a photo that she received after he passed away. Ankita has spoken about Sushant many times in the Bigg Boss house. The two dated for several years before parting ways.

The actor recalled, “When I saw him, I felt everything was over. So many films he watched, and everything was over. There was this one picture of him which was very bad,” she said as per Pinkvilla. She added, “It looked like he was sleeping. I just kept looking at that picture and thought there was so much in his brain. I knew him very well. He must have had so much in his brain but all was vanished. You are nothing, you’re just a body then.”

Sushant Singh Rajput allegedly died by suicide. Ankita Lokhande then spoke about the reason behind his death and said, “Toot gaya voh kisi cheez se. Nahi hona chahiye tha (He was broken because of something. This shouldn’t have happened).” When Munawar Faruqui asked about the events that led up to this, Ankita said, “I don’t know.”

Ankita said that in the days after Sushant’s death, she blocked many people on social media because of their negativity towards her. “But maine na bahut logo ko uss time pe block kiya. Kyunki mereko itna ganda bola jaata tha, main nahi le sakti thi. Maine block kar diya. (But I blocked many people that time because there were bad things told to me which I couldn’t take it).”

Ankita and Sushant broke up a few years before his death and she said that this was a “very difficult” phase in her life. “I was not there in his life when it all happened,” she said.

Ankita and Sushant started dating when they played the lead roles in the television show Pavitra Rishta. In an earlier chat with co-contestant Abhishek Kumar, Ankita said that she wept after watching his intimate scenes in Shudh Desi Romance. “He had booked an entire hall. He knew that I would get miffed. I saw it and my nails were like this (enacts nails digging in the seat). The entire movie got over and I went back and cried a lot,” she said.

Sushant Singh Rajput passed away at his residence in Mumbai in June 2020.
