A song from Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s upcoming release Animal was released on Tuesday. Titled “Papa Meri Jaan”, the emotional number portrays the father-son bond between the characters of Anil Kapoor and Ranbir Kapoor. Sung by Sonu Nigam, it is penned by Raj Shekhar and composed by Harshvardhan Rameshwar.

“Papa Meri Jaan” hints at the absence of Balbir Singh (Anil) during the growing up days of his son, played by Ranbir. While Ranbir’s character loves his father immensely, his dad is busy with his work. After growing up, it looks like the father and son have a troubled relationship, but the son is ready to protect his father from any possible danger. The trailer of the film also had Balbir Singh beating his son during his childhood.

However, it remains unclear what makes Ranbir’s character so violent in life. But what remains constant is a long-haired Ranbir with his blank expression. The song also has an appearance by Shakti Kapoor. The song is too slow to be in your everyday playlist but Sonu Nigam’s soulful voice makes it soothing to the ears.
