Anil Sharma mistakenly quotes a tweet on Akshay Kumar denying Sunny Deol’s Gadar 2 ‘many more records’, apologises later

Gadar 2 director Anil Sharma said that he "mistakenly" retweeted a post that claimed Akshay Kumar "denied Gadar 2’s many records by splitting screens."

Gadar 2 director Anil Sharma is facing backlash on social media after he apparently quoted a tweet which claimed that Akshay Kumar allegedly denied Sunny Deol’s film “many records” by releasing OMG 2 on the same day and splitting the number of its screens. Both the films released on August 11. While Gadar 2 has crossed Rs 300 crore mark, OMG 2 has made Rs 100 crore at the worldwide box office.

Sharma happened to have “mistakenly” quoted a tweet which read, “Congrats Akki sir but you have literally denied Gadar 2’s many records by splitting screens and making use of overflows. Still congrats.” A screenshot of this incident is going viral on social media and netizens have been calling him “insecure” for doing so. Take a look:

One person wrote, “Bro acting like he has created a masterpiece,” another user wrote, “If OMG 2 didn’t get ‘A’ rating it would have actually impacted Gadar 2.” Yet another person commented, “Insecurity it is!! People make something so big then cry when it backfires them.”

Sharma then took to social media again to apologise for his gaffe. He wrote, “Hi all.. I meant to retweet this, but mistakenly clicked the comment’s retweet button. Always love and regards for @akshaykumar.. the Industry has won.. congratulations all👍 #OhMyGadar2.”

Apparently Sharma had reacted to Akshay Kumar’s social media post where he thanked the audience for showering their love on his film OMG 2 and making a great weekend at the movies with their response to both the films. He also sang “Udd Jaa Kaale Kaava” as an ode to the Sunny Deol starrer. In his tweet Akshay wrote, “A big thank you to our audiences for all the love for #OhMyGadar and giving us the greatest week in Indian Film History! प्यार और आभार🙏🏻#Gadar2 in cinemas#OMG2 in cinemas.”

Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel’s Gadar 2 and Akshay Kumar, Yami Gautam Dhar and Pankaj Tripathi’s OMG 2 released on the same day and have been performing extremely well at the box office. While Gadar 2 has crosses Rs 300 crore mark in India, OMG 2 has crossed the Rs 100 crore mark at the worldwide box office.
