After his stint in politics in the 1980s, Amitabh Bachchan has largely stayed away from the arena. In 1984, Amitabh contested Lok Sabha polls from Allahabad and won by a historic margin. However, he resigned in 1987 under a cloud. He has been clear since then that he would never get involved with politics again.
Amitabh is currently hosting the television quiz show Kaun Banega Crorepati 15, which airs on Sony TV. The actor has been hosting the show since 2000. He was last seen in a special appearance in R Balki’s Ghoomer in August. He is currently looking forward to the release of Ganapath, which also stars Tiger Shroff and Kriti Sanon. He will also be seen in Nag Ashwin’s Kalki 2898 AD, which also stars Deepika Padukone, Prabhas and Kamal Haasan. The film’s release date is yet to be announced.
Earlier, there have been calls from sections of the government that “India, that is Bharat” should be removed from Article 1 of the Constitution and only the word ‘Bharat’ should be used.
