Amitabh Bachchan was at very low phase of his life in terms of finance and career in the late 90s, especially after his maiden production venture ABCL collapsed. Most of his films at that point in time flopped, and ABCL left him bankrupt. It was at this time when he was offered to host the quiz show Kaun Banega Crorepati. It uplifted his career and made him financially sound. Now, in the latest episode of the show, Amitabh Bachchan shared how he was approached for the role and how he felt to be hosting a show for television after being the biggest stars of his era in Bollywood. Recently the actor along with the contestants celebrated twenty five years of the quiz show. During his conversation with contestant Vinay Gupta, Amitabh Bachchan recalled the time he was offered the show. He said his family members were against the idea of hosting a show for television. "When I told my family about taking on this project, I won't take names, but some people said, 'You are making a big mistake.' I asked, 'Why?' They replied, 'People see you on the 70 mm big screen, and now they will watch you on a smaller TV screen. Moving from the big screen to the small screen will diminish your stature. It is a huge mistake." Amitabh Bachchan, however, didn't consider people's advise and went on to sign the contract. However, he recalled that before approving to contract to do the show, he asked the makers to show him the format for which they took them to London.
