In recent months, there has been much speculation surrounding the marriage of Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Abhishek Bachchan. At a recent event, the Global Women’s Forum in Dubai, the Ponniyin Selvan actor was referred to simply as “Aishwarya Rai,” omitting her “Bachchan” surname, which fuelled further questions about her marital status.

Meanwhile, Aishwarya’s father-in-law, Bollywood legend Amitabh Bachchan, recently wrote a detailed note on his official blog, expressing his views on the “questionable” writeups. Although he did not explicitly mention any particular issue, many interpreted his comments as a response to the ongoing rumours about Aishwarya and Abhishek’s marriage. In his note, Big B explained that he rarely discusses his family publicly as he values their privacy and he also criticised those who spread “speculated untruths without verification.”

Aishwarya and Abhishek have been at the centre of separation rumours after they attended Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant’s wedding separately earlier this year. While Abhishek arrived at the event with his parents Amitabh and Jaya, as well as his sister Shweta, Aishwarya showed up later with only their daughter Aaradhya.
